Gary Webb is far from the only journalist murdered by the CIA for their reporting, far from even the only AMERICAN journalist murdered by the CIA for their reporting - but his reporting, detailed in this book, was so explosive that a show of pretending to discipline the American shadow government was made for the first time since they took out Frank Church with the old 'cancer pox' dart.  

Gary Webb, God Bless that poor murdered journo, he is why nowadays it is said that the Pulitzer Prize for Journalism is a bullet in the head from the CIA.  (Realistically they usually use that melting blowfish-poison-in-ice dart heart attack inducement gun revealed by DCI Colby in the Church Hearings for icing journalists though, just ask Udo Ufkotte :[ ... I digress of course but in all seriousness when are we going to do something about this phony spy agency that keeps killing our best kennedys?  are we just going to let that cancer eat away at  the few remains of our democratic republic?  not that there's much left to save, after the 60-year rape of America that has been the post JFK-coup CIA regime. mostly just the trappings of one, since they seized power 60 years ago.  still, they should be obliterated on principle, and we might want to save a statue or two for the new country, ya know, as a souvenir, whenever the intelligence rot eats through what's left of this one.  right?
